Panda Motion Étretat · Étretat
Panda Motion runs a 2-hour outdoor escape game from Étretat's town hall: you solve puzzles on a tablet, walk from clue to clue and race the clock to the treasure. It's for groups already in town who want something other than another clifftop photo.

This isn't a trip to Étretat. It's something to do once you're there. Panda Motion has four adventures, each a 2-hour outdoor escape game played by your group alone. You meet at the town hall on Place Maurice Guillard, ideally 15 minutes early. The basic version, from $30 per person, is unsupported: the puzzles run on a tablet and you work your way to the treasure. The supported version, about $137 per person, adds a guide who walks with you, reads the clues and tells the town's history.
The game stays mostly in the village streets, with the cliffs and the beach as backdrops. One family played 'The Queen's Necklace', named after an Arsène Lupin story; Maurice Leblanc wrote Lupin in Étretat. 172 reviews average 4.8, but the low ones agree on a pattern. A French family found it too hard for children in the time; a German group couldn't crack it without knowing local history; a couple hit app bugs; and five people sharing one tablet felt short-changed.
Two hard rules. It's non-refundable and can't be changed for any reason, so check the forecast and your plans first. And it runs in French or English: a family that booked in German was told after paying that English was the best on offer. Confirmation can take up to 48 hours. From Le Havre, the LiA bus 21 gets you to Étretat for about 2 euros.
Place Maurice Guillard, in the centre. Bring walking shoes and rain gear.
Pick your adventure and get the game; on the supported version, meet your guide.
Clue to clue through the streets, with the cliffs and the beach on the way.
Back at the town hall, inside the time limit if you're quick.

French or English. A German family who booked in German was told after paying that English was the only alternative.
It's mostly in the village, with the cliffs and beach as part of the setting. For the clifftop paths, read our cliff walk guide and go before or after.
