- Two cliffs frame the pebble beach: Falaise d'Aval (left facing the sea; Porte d'Aval arch, L'Aiguille needle 51 m) and Falaise d'Amont (right; chapel Notre-Dame de la Garde, Nungesser et Coli monument). La Manneporte, the largest arch, lies beyond Aval.
- Municipal order of 28 April 2025: tunnels through the cliff points, the Trou à l'Homme, Chambre des Demoiselles and Descente au Chaudron are banned, as are walks along the cliff foot and the far beaches; keep 5 m from cliff edges; fine 135 euros plus rescue costs.
- No railway station in Étretat. Paris Saint-Lazare to Bréauté-Beuzeville by train, then Nomad coach 504 (daily April-August, weekends otherwise), about 3 hours. From Le Havre: LiA bus 21 (hourly) or 13, Nomad 509, about 1 hour.
- Le Havre cruise terminal to Étretat: about 30 km, 35-45 minutes by road. Paris to Étretat: about 210 km, 2.5-3 hours. Honfleur to Étretat: about 50 minutes via the Pont de Normandie.
- The beach and clifftop paths are free. Parking is paid all year 9:00-19:00 (centre 3 euros/hour; outer car parks 15 euros/day). Jardins d'Étretat: adult 12.90 euros April-October, season mid-February to late November.
- Monet painted Étretat in 1883, autumn 1885 and February 1886, more than 80 canvases. Maurice Leblanc's house, Le Clos Lupin, is a museum.

## Corrections to claims found elsewhere

- You can no longer walk through the tunnel in the Aval cliff or along the cliff foot at low tide: banned since April 2025.
- There is no direct train to Étretat; the nearest stations are Bréauté-Beuzeville (coach 504) and Le Havre (buses 21, 13, 509).
- Trip length is not time at the cliffs: a 13-hour day trip from Paris usually means about 2 hours in Étretat.
- A Viator listing whose web address mentions Étretat may not go there: the Vexperio shore excursion 63772P204 now visits Honfleur and Deauville.
- The beach is pebbles (flint shingle), not sand, and taking pebbles is forbidden.
